The German Wicked Wood players during the 2023 German Championship

This weekend the matches for the German championship are in Konz. A very strong tournament, organized by the German Cornhole Organization (DCO). The national association of Germany. On behalf of the Wicked Wood team, Silke Bitz, Rico Krull, Arno Simons and Felix von Roeder participated in the singles.

Silke Bitz narrowly loses in the eighth finals

After a very strong group stage, in which Silke won 4 of her 5 matches, she also started well in the elimination round. Due to her good position she had a bye in the first round. She then defeated Carsten Lewits 2-0. In the next round she met another ACL Pro: Konrad Rein. The two were evenly matched, but it was Silke who came out on top. In the end, Max Kreutzer was unfortunately just too strong, leaving the quarter-final just out of reach. Still a strong performance from Silke!

Arno also just missed the quarter-finals, losing to Edgar Fetzer, the surprise of the day. Arno has good hopes for tomorrow.

No semi-final for Rico Krull

Star player Rico Krull played strongly today. He won everything in the preliminary round and was also in strong form in the elimination round. However, he did not make it in the quarter-finals. Günni Reitz was his opponent, another title favorite. Unfortunately, Rico found his Waterloo and just missed out on reaching the semi-finals.

Felix von Roeder also had a good day but a tough draw. Unfortunately, other title favorite Rene Schindler was just a little too strong for him, leaving the quarter-final out of reach.
