The aim of the game is simple: to get exactly 21 points. The teams stand on opposite sides of the board and take turns throwing a bag. A throw into the hole is worth 3 points, on the board is 1 point. Throws are alternated between opponents and points are subtracted after all bags have been thrown. Suppose: team 1 scores 10 points and team 2 scores 7 points. Team 1 then wins the round with 3 points. Those 3 points are added to the total. The challenge is to get exactly 21 points. If you go over it, the team goes back to 15 points.
To play Cornhole you will need: 2 boards and 2x4 bags.
There are a number of different possibilities when throwing cornhole bags. By throwing horizontally and letting the bag land flat on the board, you can hit the board without risk. Because the bag will move little more, you have less chance of 3 points. By adding a little spin or throwing it lower with more speed, the bag will slide more on the board. This gives you a greater chance of 3 points, but you take more risk. Finally, there is the "airmail". You throw as high as possible and try to pop the bag exactly into the hole. This technique is often used when the hole is blocked by other bags.
